We departed for New Zealand from beautiful Sydney Harbour. All boarding went smoothly. The ship sounded its horn and music serenaded the passengers, as we left the Harbour. It was the first time I have been on a cruise. Subsequently, I painted this view of Sydney Harbour in water colour.
We cruised to several cities on our 13 day cruise "across the ditch," to New Zealand. We travelled from Sydney to Fiordland, Port Chalmers (Akaroa), Wellington, Tauranga, Auckland and the Bay of Islands. The food was amazing and we had to discipline ourselves not to overeat. Each evening we received a copy of the "Princess Patter," which detailed the programme available for the next day. Here are some photographs of our travels:
Fiordland (Milford Sound)
I created a watercolour painting, from the above photograph. The views of Milford Sound from the cruise ship, were amazing.
We caught the Wellington tram up a hill, to take photographs of the magnificent views overlooking Wellington. We then walked around the nature park at the top of the hill.
We took a trip from Tauranga to Rotarua (organised via Trip Advisor). It was immensely interesting. Below is a photgraph of "Lady Geyser", which bubbled, almost on command.
Below is a photograph of the boiling hot springs in Rotarua, which I also painted. It turned out more of an abstract water colour painting.
We were fortunate to complete our cruise in November, 2019. If we had left it until this year, we would have been unable to go, because of the Covid pandemic.
We have future travel planned for 2020, but unsure at this stage, whether we will get there or not. David and I have planned to go to: Morocco, Egypt and Jordan in October and Bali (which was postponed in May), in December, 2020. More later.
